Location: Evergreen, CO - 7,600 feet | Sunday - to relax a bit after my intensive learning process - I decided to take the family out for a little ride. The plan was to do Guanella Pass and whatever we can in Geneva Pass.
It turned up to be great until we hit Geneva where the trail became pretty bumpy. Man, I can tell you that the XTerra is not the smoothest vehicle out there We almost made it to the fork when the snow got kinda big - and with stock tires, no winch and scarry members of the family - I decided to turn in what was the only wide portion of the trail. On the right was the mountain - on the left - the abyss Scarry shitless since once I did turn - the truck start sliding and everyone started screaming . Got the kids off the truck and with the help of the shovel and some big rocks we stopped the sliding and was able to turn. Let me tell you - The XTerra did great and once I will have the right tires on it .... will kick a$$. ...and don't tell me - in teh pics looks like is absolutely no room to turn - well - it was but teh snow was the tricky part. We made it home safe just in time for another round of "VLANS and OSPF" session.

Awesome. What a way to "break in" the Xterra. You made it further in those conditions then I would have thought with those stock tires. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about the bumpy-ness and HUGE potholes/mudholes. Still a tame trail and probably a great one to learn your new ride, and close as well. I have a picture from almost the identical spot where you are having lunch/cooler break.
There was more ice then I would have thought on the Georgetown side of Guanella. North facing slopes now...
We'll have to go explore more by ATV.

Location: Westminster, Crawlorado | Hey those pixs remind me of an ATV trip where we ran into a family with an H3 and street tires. Sorry Remy I couldn't resist.

Location: Evergreen, CO - 7,600 feet | True - I thought of the same thing .... the difference Geneva Pass supposed to be EASY .... Radical Hill in the other side
I could of probably made it to the top .... the stock tires are not bad for offroading .... |

| well you broke the first rule of 4wheeling, never go alone unless you have all the recovery equipment needed. then you went into an area where there was snow, thats even worse. rear leaf springs in a SUV = VERY BUMPY RIDE ! IMO, stay with the stock tires, you will be driving it way more on the road then off the road, and if you go places where you need real off-road tires you are getting in over your head. the stockers will be just enough to get you where you need to be and the on-road tires will be so much quieter ON the road !
were you trying to turn around in that narrow spot? it looks like you thought you were riding the ATV picking that spot ! |

Location: Evergreen, CO - 7,600 feet | Get the Xterra ... I had a Denali until not too long - it was great - but is a totally different league. The X will take you everywhere - plus I can get you all the necessary armor for it |
